World's Largest Fry Feed:
The annual French Fry Feed in University Park, sponsored by Simplot, will be held on the Thursday from 5pm to dusk.
The evening features:
- World's largest french fry feed
- hot dog/soda stands
- large, inflatable games
- United Way children's activity tent
- live music
- potato picking contest - sponsored by RDO (for children; Registration from 5:00pm to 5:45pm; races starts with youngest to oldest)
- fireworks display - sponsored by Rydell (at Memorial Stadium; tune into Breeze 104.3 FM for choreographed fireworks music)
In 2006 the record of french fries served was broken. 4,680 pounds were served at the 2006 French Fry Feed. It was estimated that around 10,000 people were served. About 113 gallons of ketchup were used as well.
United Way sponsors the Family Fun Tent, and with the help of member agencies, board members and other volunteers, they provide free activities and games for kids at University Park, AND extra help serving the fries for Simplot's French Fry Feed!
The French Fry Feed will be followed by the Rydell Fireworks Display and Pep Rally at Memorial Stadium. This will begin approximately at 8:30pm. The UND Football team, coaching staff, UND cheer team, and Pride of the North marching band will be on hand to help celebrate Potato Bowl week. Everyone is invited to attend and watch the fireworks.
